Lucky September 2006

Through the years,  AERO & Co. has consistently taken chances on pieces that won’t appeal to everyone-checkerboard print leggings, macabre illustrated tees, Navajo-motif wrap sweaters- but those who are drawn to them will appreciate them tenfold.

Best Accessories – Editors Choice

Aero & Co.
8403 W 3rd St Los Angeles, CA 90048

A space to score the hip clothes, jewelry, books and novelties that haven’t worn out their welcome.

Aero & Co Editorial Review – by Kim Cooper

Specializing in fashion and gift trends that are just beginning to crest, Alisa Loftin's funky, pink-striped double storefront is packed with hipster treats. Rock and roll inspired graphic tees by T&xt look cool paired with Chrishabana‘s ’80s punk Lycra leopard print leggings. Sandals by Huyl, Crate jeans, Figmint slim-line 60s-style trousers and deconstructed Elmer Ave suitcoats are featured. A veritable zoo of Fauna‘s animal-shaped silkscreen pillows perch on vintage chairs in the back.

To Shop and Drive in L.A.

…I can’t miss the vicinity of Beverly Boulevard and Third Street. This is the neighborhood for the most exciting and inventive designs, things made locally and abroad, things I see nowhere else: A long muslin and pleated wrap dress with distressed leather straps fastened with rusty nails (Hazel Brown $529 at AERO & Co., 8403 West Third).

Where Young Hollywood Shops

Though it lacks a nickname, the stretch of commerce between the Beverly Center and the Grove is a desirable address. Designer Cynthia Vincent and former fashion publicist Alisa Loftin own AERO & Co. (previously in Los Feliz), one of the first boutiques to champion local designers. It still does, carrying clothing and accessories such as Myla & Co. hats and Gabriela Artigas necklaces that appeal to Mena Suvari, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. The store hosts dandy trunk show too.

Most Supportive of Local Labels – AERO & Co.

Alisa Loftin is known all over town for her extraordinary eye and continual support of L.A. labels (she was one of the first to stock Grey Ant and Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent). We never tire of visiting her airy boutique, as we know we’ll be generously rewarded with an inspiring lineup. Our current favorite in the shop is Jasmin Shokrian, known for her sensuous silhouettes and inventive tailoring (raw hems, deconstructed cuts).

LA Weekly - Best of LA 2003

Best Design Boutique – AERO & Co.

Four boutiques in particular stand out for followers of L.A. design. Each features smartly edited collections and knowledgeable staff.
AERO carries mostly L.A. designers – Brian Lichtenberg‘s pop chic is the latest find – mixing in, say, the whimsical deconstruction of Japan’s Ballroom.
